March 2025 Witches’ Brew for the Soul

This month’s Witches’ Brew for the Soul comes from a Three Cups Circle fan. It is a story of hope, overcoming limitations, and the gifts we receive when we believe in magic.

Ostara, the Rabbit Mother of Spring

I want to tell a story.

I had never really put too much faith in things I cannot see. Concrete evidence is science, and I identify as an earthly and grounded person. I am a Virgo, after all.

That is, until the day I adopted a rabbit.

I did not mean to adopt a rabbit, but there she was on my way home from work, splayed in a yard, enormous and unmoving.

For those who don’t know me, I am notorious for bringing home the occasional stray animal. My whole family knows I cannot drive by a lost animal without at least ATTEMPTING to help out. My husband would say it’s more than occasional. My family knows when I text “So this happened today…” that they will see the face of a dog or cat in the next message.

I may have a reputation…

She was skittish, as all rabbits are. It took a couple days and the help of some strangers before we were able to safely get her into my car. Seeing her safe in that kennel in my backseat was the best Valentine's Day gift.

When I sent the photos of her resting in the dog kennel I had transformed into a rabbit habitat, the group chat exploded. It was fun to read my friends’ responses.

One friend in particular, Aster, someone I associate with the very word spirituality, said it was an auspicious sign for pregnancy—especially because at the time we had just entered the Chinese Year of the Rabbit.

I grew up with pagan influence, so I understood he was referring to Ostara, the rabbit-head goddess of Spring and fertility.

An important part of this story is that my husband and I had been trying for years to conceive. We had been to doctors, implemented behaviors they said would help, lost weight through strict dieting, and still, we had no luck with starting the family we both wanted so badly.

The following week, I discovered that the rabbit I had rescued was giant for a reason.

She had given birth.

It was such a surprise. I sent photos again to the chat, and Aster doubled down on the message that Ostara was trying to help me. While I am a skeptic, he has always surprised me. He accurately predicted how I would meet my husband, even though at the time of that reading I was MAD that he would say the guy I was currently dating would lead me to my husband and not BE the one I was marrying. A few years later, I married his best friend.

So, with him doubling down on this sign, I thought, “why not?”

I went to the store, bought a white candle, and as the flame danced before me, I asked Ostara for her presence. I poured my heart out to her. I asked for help with finding these new bunnies a home. I asked for help with revealing my path to motherhood. I sat before her energy, and in my heart, I prayed. I hoped. I felt. I cried.

At first, it seemed like not much had changed. I did, at least, feel a little lighter, and it felt good to connect with spirituality again. I found new homes for all the rabbits, Momma Bunny included. A month went by, and to be honest, I had forgotten about my evening with Ostara.

That is, until I realized I had missed my period.

I kept it to myself for a bit. I did not want to be overly excited and then have to deal with the disappointment publicly. I wanted to be sure. After seeing two pink lines multiple times and a confirmation ultrasound, I was finally sure. The explosion of excitement in our group chat was tangible.

I am happy to report, months later, long months later, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl who is officially my little bunny. I find ways to honor Ostara for her gift, she has a bunny blanket, a stuffed rabbit, and her first birthday cake was even in the shape of a bunny face. The universe pulled a rabbit out of a hat and reminded me of my potential.

So, do I believe in magic now? It’s kind of hard to argue with results. I like to dip my toes in the waters occasionally, but I don’t know that I would be me without a little skepticism. I do however smile when I see the moon, and every time my bunny beams with joy I think of that night and how, through opening my heart to hope, I may have been blessed by a goddess.

Ostara, Spring, and The Solar New Year

In modern Paganism, we honor the seasons of the year and understand the correlation between the Wheel of the Year, and what we experience as a collective. The idea is, if we honor her cycle, then we understand the energies that are best to work with at any given time of year. Because we are nature, we can look to nature to see how our base energy is being effected by the Earth’s resonance.

Ostara marks the reawakening of the Earth, and is celebrated on the Spring equinox, one of two days where day and night are equal. From this day forward, solar energy grows and grows along with the days. We also start Aries season on this same day, and this marks the Cosmic New Year. We typically celebrate on March 20th or 21st, depending on the year. This year it is on the 20th. This marks the time where the days get longer and is an indicator for us to get motivated. The rest from winter is over. Stretch and wake up!

Agriculturally, it was also the traditional time to start planting seeds. What can you do to plant seeds of the spiritual gifts, projects, and energies you’d like to grow this year? What is a small step you can take today to move us toward liberation?

The name of this holiday is derived from the Germanic goddess Ostara, or Eostre, a goddess of renewal, new beginnings, and fertility. She is felt in the blooming of spring, in the warming of the planet, in the increase of eggs as a food source (hens need 12-16 hours of daylight to lay eggs), and in the sight of hares entering their peak breeding season (hilariously called March Madness in Europe). She is the awakening and the stirring of nature.

Perhaps you’ve caught on, either through her name or the symbols associated with her, but many of the traditions of the Easter holiday come from these traditions. Painting eggs, rabbit imagery, and even the resurrection of the sun (son). Many people of many faiths across the millennia have celebrated renewal and rebirth in Spring. We're in good company.

Affirmation Egg Activity

This is a fun activity you can use to celebrate Ostara or Easter with affirmations or manifestations. And, of course, decorated eggs.

You’ll need:

  • Hardboiled eggs

  • Colored dyes

  • Cups of water large enough to cover the eggs

  • Egg dippers or spoons

  • A white crayon

To begin, you can hardboil the eggs to your preference. Let the eggs cool to room temperature. Set up the cups of water and add the dyes (you can use the easter kits available from grocery stores, or you can try the natural dyes linked in the section below).

On each of the eggs, use the white crayon to write a word of affirmation or manifestation that you would like to bring into the next year. You can also draw decorations. Anywhere you apply the white crayon will not take the dye, and will remain the color of the egg.

Then, submerge the eggs in the dye cups to decorate as you normally would. You can combine colors or dye the eggs half and half. Experiment and have fun. The words and decorations you applied to the egg will show up through the colors you apply. We like to imagine that as the words appear, so too do the energies of what we are manifesting.

We usually do this activity as part of our Ostara ritual. We will offer a prayer over the eggs to give thanks for the blessings written there, and then crack and eat them as offerings. You can even remove the membrane and save the egg shell bits for future magic!

The Power of Color

Whether for dying eggs or burning candles, the following list of color associations can be useful. Jot this down in your Journal or Book of Shadows to keep the list as a reference. And don't be afraid to stray from these associations and follow what makes sense to your intuition.

Orange - Energy, Vitality, Adaptability, Creativity
Yellow - Intellect, Knowledge, Communication, Joy

Collective Tarot Energies for March

Six of Wands and King of Cups
Progress, Victory Mindset, and a March Toward Emotional Mastery

These cards feels like a continuation of the energy in the February Newsletter. Recall, we are being inundated with information in an effort to wear us down. By keeping us at a loss for direction, the opposition wins through overwhelm and the loss of morale. However, we control how the narrative effects us. Collectively, we have more power than these forces and the strategy they are attempting to implement. That’s where these cards come in.

We are being called to CHANNEL VICTORY through our mindset and bring that feeing into the emotional body and how we hold ourselves. Morale is key. For March, it seems those who have their emotions under control and expertly aimed are the victors, regardless of the surrounding environment.

Six of Wands. The Hero rides in on horseback after slaying the beast, his leadership recognized as the villagers gather around him. He has proven himself with a triumphant energy deserving of not one, but two laurel crowns. By maintaining a sense of victory, by holding your head high and stating, “Today, I am victorious,” we bring into our being a feeling of security. This stability can be our marble slate for the King’s throne.

King of Cups. The King sits upon his solid square platform, unmoving, regardless of the turbulent sea around him. In this particular reading, the king represents you and the sea represents the surrounding emotional stimuli, the chaotic crashing and overwhelming torrent of the waters around us. Current events feel like enduring a violent hurricane at times, but if we can channel the King of Cups, we can become the eye of the storm. As the winds blow and the waves attempt to swallow the ship behind him, the King is still, looking toward the future, knowing this storm will pass. That is not to say he is being passive. The King IS paired with the Six of Wands after all, and the Wands are typically cards of action.

Together. When looking at these two cards together, I see why the King of Cups is an emotional master—he channels victory. He already knows he has won; the Hero is in his army. Not only does he think he is going to win, he feels it. Air becomes Water when we move from thinking to feeling, and the more dense an element, the closer it is to reality. In manifestation magic, this is a key internal lesson in transmutation magic. The King does not look back or question if his victory will come to pass. It is assured in the back of his mind while he looks forward and walks with compassion to the future, feeling out his path to victory. While I observe his style of leadership, our collective weakness reveals itself. The message is clear: we need to be more like this King.

In war, there are many things to consider; however, numbers and morale will often determine victory. These are the two critical variables in the equation of triumph. When considering battles both within and without us, mindset is the key to victory. If you believe you are already doomed, then you are likely correct. In too many videos on my feed, I am reading comments like “We’re cooked.” How can you be giving up so easily? We haven’t even tried. Why is this the phrase people are latching on to? Our language shapes reality. Be mindful of what you say, because your words effect the collective and its morale. Morale is hope. Morale is confidence. Morale is self-esteem. Lift your head up: You are King of your reality—regardless of gender. So, when false Kings present themselves to control your reality, can you remain unbowed?

To increase morale, read the following tips. Whether you are leading a team, a movement, or trying to lift yourself out of despair, the following list can be beneficial. Read each line and ask yourself how this applies to 1) A group of people and 2) The Individual, you.

  • Identify a shared goal. What is the community fighting for? Why is it important for the whole?

  • Create a space where every part feels included. Celebrate diversity and different perspectives to grow cohesion, whether this is a group of individuals or your different internal parts. Help the parts understand how their efforts contribute to the bigger picture.

  • Communicate consistently. Check in. Ensure there is a balance of rest and actionable forward movement. Ensure the different parts of the whole know their contributions are seen and appreciated.

  • Create an environment that encourages unity within the units. If the parts have camaraderie, they start working for each other to protect their sense of belonging. This can also aid in emotional support and bonding—leading to a stronger whole.

  • Go out of your way to celebrate successes. Be empathetic. Use your emotional intelligence to celebrate a comrade or part in the way it wants to be celebrated. Share your love. Forgive. Open your heart. Be the positive joy that fills a room.

March Journal Prompts:

  • Recall a time where you were met with a seemingly impossible task that you conquered. What did it take to overcome this scenario? How did you feel when you defeated this “dragon?” What did you learn? How can you channel that inner hero now?

  • Reflect on your reactions during this historic time period. What has the past month felt like for you? How have the thoughts of defeat or victory played into these feelings?

  • How can you use this month to allow yourself to reset and resurrect your morale? How can you increase morale in your community? In yourself?

  • What seeds are you planting with the words you are using? When analyzing your language, what common themes can you see between the words you use and the interpretation of your reality?

Remember, although you cannot control the narrative, the laws, or the stimuli in any given environment, you do have control over the way it makes you feel and what you hold on to. Winning is often a battle of the mind. Thoughts influence body chemistry as the mental self feeds the emotional self, which feeds the physical self. Your wellbeing can be altered by the balance you create, and you can effect the wellbeing of the collective by the actions you take and the compassion you sow. If everyone started tending to the wellbeing of the collective, imagine how we could flourish. Imagine the garden we create when we simply share love. Be the hope in the dark. Be the Star in the night sky. Be the resurrection of love.

Stay Blessed,

Do you have any pets? - Jude

Yes! I have a German Shepherd/Husky mix named Inara. She is the light of the world condensed into one dog-shaped vessel. Although, if I am being honest, she’s my daughter and all my plants are my pets. 🤣

How did you get started? - Brittney

This is difficult to answer. As a child many influences guided me to study esotericism, likely due to being sensitive to spiritual activity. I have many stories during this time of the things I would see and hear. I found my light body due to being forced to find ways to protect myself, and honestly, out of the boredom of being stuck in hospital beds as a young child. Long story there. I believe my connection to the study of the mysteries is connected to past lives as well but for this question I will focus on this lifetime. On top of that, my family has many stories of the other side. It’s in my DNA.

I started taking dabbling when I discovered the occult section of my local library. I remember walking there on the weekends and reading in the corner, occasionally feeling brave enough to check them out. I bought my first compendium around that time and on my 13th birthday I received a tarot deck. That started everything for me.

I am unsure if it was dedication or a natural affinity but the cards revealed themselves to me on a deep level over the years, both as I studied their logical nature and dreamt of their spiritual meanings. I met a Priestess mentor in my late teens and she taught me a lot about reading the cards one on one.

In college I started my reiki journey and that blew me wide open. I learned to listen on a more subtle level. That led me to listening to trees, water, land, and I became aware that this amazing container of learning we find ourselves in is very much alive. I learned how energy is everywhere and by learning its language and learning how to listen, I am able to deliver transformative information for my clients; I learned to become a translator for your guides, and a puzzle solver for you blockages. The rest is refinement.

Through learning how to listen to the Earth itself, I have also developed Elemental Energy Therapy over the last decade. I hope to one day spread this modality and write a book on how to channel this energy for healing and how to implement these teachings to help the collective live a more in tune life, transcending self made limitations through balance.

What is the best way to decipher dreams? This is how my guides talk to me and I am not sure exactly how to work through them. - Sunny15

Dream interpretation is a juicy question and there are books upon books of recommended techniques and strategies. For me, the best thing to do with dreams is to understand the symbolism of the subconscious.

The first thing I do when I am wanting to analyze a dream is to write it down as soon as I wake up, paying particular attention to the nouns: persons, places, and things. These will be the basic parts of beginner dream analysis. From there you can go deeper, but let’s start here.

People. Every person in your dream reflects a part of you. Typically, if it is someone you know there is a word association with that person. What are the first few words you associate with them? This is an energy trying to make itself known to you. Example: If the first words I think of when I see Cathey is her intelligence and bravery, then perhaps my guides want me to learn something new and be courageous.

Places. Places for me have always indicated how my subconscious feels about a particular situation. I view it as a stage set, and ask, “What mood is the director (my subconscious, or guides depending on the dream) trying to portray?”

Things. These are the main parts of interpretation and for me almost work like tarot cards. Collect they symbols, lay them out, and treat it like an oracle deck. Research the symbolism of the objects. Objects can be animals, plants, or something inanimate. They can be something small and handheld, something large and towering, archetypes, or all sorts of things They are all the things that are not the setting or characters. This will require research and intuition. Personally, I find it fun, almost like solving a puzzle. Remember, symbols are personal. So investigate what they mean to you first, then research.

This is a great place to start. Master this and other roads will appear. I could go into how to remember dreams, how to increase the depth of a dream, how to lucid dream, as all of these help with interpreting. One could write a whole book on this, but I must keep this concise for now. Try this activity. I hope it helps!

Thanks for reading! We hope your March is empowering and energetic!

Much Love,

Thank you for being a part of Three Cups Circle. 💗

Listening to: King by Florence + The Machine

This song is … I honestly can’t put words to how it makes me feel. I love how she transcends the typical archetypes society expects of a woman in this video. “I am no Mother, I am no Bride, I am King.” The image of women rising in unison is very Venus in Aries and we have been getting a taste of that in recent days. I wonder what Magic the divine feminine will cook up this month. 30,000/5

Reading: Mudras: Yoga in your Hands

I started reading this book years ago and picked it back up as a way to understand why I was seeing figures in power holding their hands in certain ways while they are speaking. Sure enough, they are 100% utilizing Mudras, certain hand movements that are said to unlock and manipulate different energies within the body. It’s a great resource for reference, but I have a hard time reading it through page by page. 4/5

Watching: White Lotus, Season 3

This is one of my addiction shows. I have cancelled all of my streaming services Disney, Amazon, Netflix, Hulu … and currently only have Max because of this show. Part of my boycott involves taking back control of my money and I what I support with it. Unfortunately, I cannot find a high resolution photo for this show’s poster, but it is great! Mystery, Intrigue, Karma—its always a blast, and this season is starting strong. Hopefully, we see Jennifer Coolidge in this season soon…
