May 2025 Witches’ Brew for the Soul
This story comes from Aster because the Water element is so dear to his heart. Happy Beltane! Hope you enjoy!
A Memory of Water
In my mind, I am flying through an endless ocean.
There are no walls. There is no container.
I feel the cold water moving across my skin, invigorating my entire body.
I am free. I am alive. I close my eyes and for a moment, I am more than whole.
There is a flash and I am connected to everything. It is a blend of happiness, love, excitement, and … something else? An unknown feeling of peace, but more peaceful. Joy, but more joyful. There is no word in the English language I know of that fits this feeling.
The line between my body and the water around me, for a moment, disappears.
This was the first time I felt the All.
This was the first time I became my light body.
In truth there were walls. I was in an above ground pool.
I did have a body, and it was that of a very young child.
And the reason I was moving so fast was because I was holding my abuelo’s shoulders while he was swimming in circles.
But to me, it felt like I broke the speed of light.
I think these memories are why I love water so much. In fact, when I open up my psychic channel for clients, it is often through this memory door I access necessary information.
After years of study, I understand why.
This feeling I had as a child is the same feeling of connecting to deep intuition. When you vibrate on the same level of the water element, you are able to receive glimpses of the collective unconscious.
It makes sense. Water rules psychic ability. When you flow and release all tension, you gain access to the hidden realms (if all else is in balance).
This moment is forever engrained. Even writing about it now, my heart aligns with my spirit body, ready for takeoff.
I find it interesting that the person who took me to this place, my grandfather, shares the same name as the archangel of the element of water: Gabriel.
Life is magic when you trace the story. I’d ask what are the odds, but as I age, I realize more and more that life is exactly what it needs to be for your development. We all have puzzle pieces in life that are waiting for us to rediscover a deeper truth.
That everything is laid out exactly how it needs to be.
This is called the Flow.
So what memories hold sacred power to you? What spirits showed themselves early in childhood organically? Walk down Memory Lane and see what is waiting to be discovered. Remembering itself is an act of the water element. Follow the stream of consciousness to see what is there. Doing this in meditation may lead you to the answers you are seeking today.
Have an inspirational story you want to share with our collective? Submit your Witches’ Brew to us by emailing us at [email protected] to start the conversation. Currently looking for Fire and Air element based stories, but feel free to submit any letter. For reference on what we’re looking for check out the February and March newsletters.
Elemental Water - Who is She?
Written by Aster
Water energy is source consciousness. We all come from Her. She is the keeper of memory, the balance of the tides, the emotional current, and the blood of our vessels. She is the fount of intuition, the energy of the lucid dream, the expression in brushstrokes, and the cosmic ocean.
She is a healer of the past, the washing of sins, and the ebb and flow of life. She is half of the quantum dimension, as all things in this world are waves when magnified to the smallest of small.
She is more than the bonds of hydrogen and oxygen—her energy extends beyond Her earthly expression. When we speak of water, we speak of the etheric connection in all life. Her vapors are infused with all living forms—in plants, in animals, in all beings.
She is the rain and the river, the sea and the moon, the ancient icebergs and the rising steam. She is the act of reflection, the wisdom of understanding—both the mirror and the silent realm of the unconscious. She is intuition and truth.
Water element is linked to the Sacral Chakra. This governs creativity, pleasure, sensuality, dance, and taste. Hip openers and the flowing of movement in yoga invoke Her. When we flow through life, when life becomes a dance, we stop struggling and invite energy as it comes.
When I tap into my psychic gifts, it is through the element of water. I access my clear knowing by feeling into my body’s water. There’s a reason we call it a channel. We see things clearly when distraction is washed away. When we flow, we know.
Expanse is a key word when I think of this element. Imagine the quantum link between all water molecules. We know that all the water on earth has been endlessly recycled through time. The same water that exists now is the same that has existed before—an endless cycle. Imagine using your body, which is 70% water as an adult, as a conduit to connect to all of the water that exists in the world, in others, in trees. This act is becoming the wisdom of this element. It’s how I sit across from someone and know what their energy body needs to hear. This is why the elemental Water rules divination and mysticism.
Tension is the quickest way to shut down your Water element and thus your psychic channel. And too much Water? It leads to emotional instability and a tendency toward addictions. When working with water, it’s important to feel.
Controlling Water requires a container. The reason I encourage students to learn from the Earth element before developing their water element is twofold. Earth stabilizes the ascension path of learning anything from the esoteric path, and also having acute body awareness allows the Channel to remain relaxed. The more you work with your body, the more connection and control you have over the subtle parts of the self.
Water reacts to sound and frequency. When we facilitate sound baths, we are communicating with your inner Water element. Emitting a vibratory language that your body understands helps you to absorb wisdom on a deeper level. Sound disrupts blockages in flow.
Physical water is a carrier as well. Nearly all of the processes in your body require this crucial ingredient. It carries nutrients in and waste out, maintains cell health, and ensures that we can move through lubricating our joints. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Water extracts. Think of your teas and tinctures. It is a medium for water soluble molecules. She is the foundation to healing. A medicine carrier. There are even theories of Her carrying your words or energy. See the book recommendation below: The Hidden Messages in Water by Dr. Masaru Emoto.
In Tarot, water is the suit of cups. One of the top themes of this suit is love. If God is love, and is within us all, then perhaps because we are more than half water, this is the presence of God within us all that is talked about. If we all come from God, and we all come from a womb, perhaps water is the source. In utero, we are 99% water, and when we are born, 90%. Through a long story of evolution, we all come from the sea.
What if water is the source?
I believe it is through our water element that we can understand one another. Empathy is of the water element. When we recognize that every living thing is made with high percentages of water, we realize we have more in common with all living things than differences.
If we start to view Water as God, that is to say Water as our Source, I wonder if we would start respecting Her again. I wonder if we would start prioritizing Her sanctity. If we all need Her to survive, why are we allowing men in power to abuse Her? There is so much we can do to help. Please take today to research options in your local area.

Collective Tarot Energies for May 2025
The High Priestess Inverted and The Seven of Swords
Discernment and Seeing Through Illusions
AI lacks Wisdom
![]() | ![]() |
The High Priestess Inverted. When The High Priestess appears inverted in a reading, she comes with a warning: something in your immediate surroundings is amiss. For whatever reason, the querent may not be aware of something that is happening under their nose, or they have not been trusting their own intuition. When she is inverted, she can also represent that the querent needs to withdrawal and reestablish a connection to their own inner truth. The High Priestess is also the card of the Sacral Chakra, or “the gut feeling.” Perhaps someone isn’t trusting their gut, or knowingly giving away their personal power. When paired with the Seven of Swords, a possible meaning is: due to a lack of checking in with the self, something is taking advantage of you.
Seven of Swords. When the Seven of Swords appears there is some level of deceit occurring in the querent’s life. Something or someone is stealing or siphoning in some way. This is the card of cheating, lies, deception, and underhanded tactics. Someone is trying to get away with something. When paired with The High Priestess, the thief is exploiting a person’s lack of inner knowing to do nefarious deeds, grift them for money, or take advantage of them in some way.
Together. When I see this combo I think of the energy of many tarot readers I see online. People pretending to have knowledge yet when I drop in they are not understanding the message that the cards are trying to get across. They clearly lack study from an experienced reader’s perspective. Not trying to yuck anyone’s yum, but people need to understand they are being taken advantage of. It’s wrong, and when frauds are taking up the bandwidth of the psychic space, it can turn people off from the scene forever.
In this new landscape, in this new paradigm we find ourselves in, discerning authenticity and knowledge has become incredibly difficult. Not only are people using AI to generate scripts to present themselves as experts, but people are using it to create multiple accounts, videos, and comment to shape our collective narrative. When everyone is using AI, it leaves no room for the human spark of creation. All of this collective junk is getting in the way of real creative thinkers and creators.
But this message extends beyond false psychics and AI accounts. A major problem with AI is that it is not an expert! It is programed to reflect to you answers that make you feel you are correct. It is an echo chamber. See below.

A snapshot from a friend’s Instagram story; I seriously got nausea
Is this not one of the most concerning things you have seen? Obviously, this is not the appropriate answer to this behavior. This is dangerous.
The illusion of expertise is something I have been thinking a lot about lately. When we give into these technologies and hold them as truth, there is a risk that we stop holding truth within ourselves and instead accept the programmer’s ideology. Who are the programmers? What is their intent? What ideology are they going to push and what ideology will they remove?
Honestly, it’s giving 1984. Go read it.
I think that’s why The High Priestess is appearing here. She is making herself known within you. Saying do NOT forget your intuition. Do not forget to plug into yourself. You rob yourself when you don’t plug into her wisdom.
It’s alarming to me that there are currently people on TikTok who are calling AI their higher self, their guide, or even a deity. Abandoning their TRUE spiritual path for the illusion presented to them on an LED screen. The spiritual path is never quick. It takes honing. It takes patience. Using AI in this way is a trap.
In your search for enlightenment and spiritual development be wary. Do not fall for snake oil. Choose to become the serpent instead. A teacher should be guiding you with techniques, not giving you the answer. There is no one size fits all. In my experience, everyone requires a slightly different blend to connect to the All.
When you awaken to your spiritual force you can no longer be fooled. You see through the guise of pretenders. You know when someone is lying to you. This is the power of the Knowing; AI cannot do that for you. Do not neglect your connection to your Water element. Swim in your inner world. Dive into the collective unconscious. Plug into the forest systems that birthed your ancestors. The original large language model is the Earth itself. When was the last time you asked Her a direct question?
May Journal Prompts:
What is my current relationship to technology? How many hours a day am I with a screen? Does this number feel healthy to me?
Before using AI, what other tools are at my disposal? What am I possibly missing out on when I am researching a topic and go straight for ChatGPT?
What can I do to help the health of my inner knowing? How can I establish deeper trust in myself?
What are some divination tools I have wanted to try but haven’t yet?
Remember, the more you lean into AI, the more you are robbing yourself of the learning journey that develops wisdom. While I do see some potential good with this tool, a tool’s usefulness depends on how it is being used, and right now its being abused.
Stay Blessed,
Aster

Flow is Life
Written by Niko
Why is it so many burnt-out millennials dream to live by a stream? Why are we (humans) so incredibly, religiously fond of waterfalls? Why do some cats refuse to drink from anything but a charmingly bubbly kitty fountain? Why does my cockatiel jump in my sink for a bath when I turn the faucet on?
Running water is the best. There’s something to be said for the delicious ions supposedly given off by large volumes of moving water, like waterfalls, but our love for it has deeper, more instinctual roots: if it’s moving, it’s probably clean. And if it’s clean, it’s safe to drink and can become a source of life for nearby animals, us included. A reliable source of clean water is one of the first building blocks for life and community, and this cannot be forgotten.
On the scientific side of things, many bacteria form colonies in order to reproduce en masse, and many of the water-faring ones form sheets or “films”. These colonies form more easily and more successfully on the surface of stagnant water … but if the surface is disturbed, those colonies break apart. This is why movement is one of water’s first defenses against contamination.
Water is tied to our emotional bodies, and just like water, we must flow in order to maintain emotional health. Movement is life. Even enormous “still” oceans have deep currents that carry nutrients and creatures all over the globe, and they ebb and flow with the moon.
Stagnant water energy is that of repression, denial, and depression. Think of a slimy and neglected puddle, surface too clotted with algae and scum to see beneath. Those who have stagnant water energy usually have no idea, because they’ve been trained not to look inside of themselves or let anything “out”.
(On a horrifically related note, did you know that AFAB pharmacists have statistically higher rates of urinary tract infections due to not having time/breaks to urinate? Yes, holding your pee for terrible, capitalism-pleasing time periods is a risk factor for UTIs. Flow. Is. Life.)
However, too much movement is also not ideal. We all know someone who has white water rapids for emotions, and nothing finds a home in that dire of a current. It’s more likely to rip your arm off! So as in all things, we seek balance here. We want inflow and we want outflow, and most importantly we want to feel our emotions as they happen.
It’s harder than you think. Because you’re thinking, not feeling, get it? Rationalizing your emotions is the ultimate tempting trap, because once we think we understand the what/why/how of an upsetting situation, we can tuck it away, safe and controlled and entirely unfelt.
Surprise! Emotions have the shelf-life of Hostess Twinkies. Which is to say, they don’t.
Water is immortal. So are emotions (see: Why the Fuck are Hauntings) and you can’t just “tuck away” something that never fades or ends. You have to tap in, shake off that algae growth, and face up to your reflection. The way you felt that day. The why you felt that day. Shit, how deep is this puddle, actually?
Let it out. Let it go. Emotions can’t kill you on the way out, but they can stop you from living fully if left to stagnate.
Find your flow. Find it as many times as you need. It may be different each time. That’s okay. Rain happens. Drought happens. Snow happens. Life happens.
Find your flow, like a finger to your fluttering artery. You are made of rivers, some physical, some not. Don’t try to map it. Just bring an innertube and push off, trusting that you will come back around. You will.
Water is the ultimate solvent and the ultimate life-giver. It brings things to us, and carries other things away. When we cry, our tears will crystalize into different shapes and patterns based on the emotions (and thus hormones/proteins/minerals) behind those tears. Isn’t that incredible?
Water is also the ultimate keeper of cycles. She takes different forms depending on her environment, and can transition from ice to liquid to vapor and back again, inexhaustibly. Her flow makes our world possible. It’s one of the first things we learn about in public school science: the water cycle.
You will have cycles, too. What’s important is that you keep coming round. You can get dizzy. That’s part of the fun, actually. Make a habit of swimming in yourself. You’re deeper than you think.
Astrology - Important Dates in May
Need to edit still
It is difficult to predict how these transits will effect you personally without looking at your specific birth chart, so keep these dates in mind and look at the House it is occurring in for you as well as any significant aspects. To help you understand these energies, we paired them with possible overarching themes.
May 4- Pluto Retrograde Begins - A long transit for Pluto, this planet will be retrograde until October 14. This is an internal journey of our personal philosophies. I am hoping this will bring a focus of the negative effects of AI into public conversation, hence why I discussed this earlier. This will be a time to review long term plans regarding the house this is happening in for you.
May 10 - Mercury Enters Taurus - The vibe is a grounding communication with whatever house this transit falls into for you. For me it is my fifth house, so I may focus in on what brings me pleasure in writing and get clear on a project outline.
May 12 - Full Moon in Scorpio - Look at the house this is in for you. What needs to die and be reborn in this area of your life? Could be a good time to do spell work around transmuting anything you need to in this area of your life.
May 20 - Sun Enters Gemini - The season of mingling begin! Put yourself out there, go have fun, join a social club, try new things, experiment, discover community!
May 24 Saturn Enters Aries - Changes coming in your Aries house. For me, I am possibly moving this year and this is in my fourth house. Saturn feels bold here.
May 25 - Mercury Enters Gemini - Remember how I am using Mercury in Taurus to stabilize some ideas? When this transit kicks in I will be implementing and starting a more consistent habit. Think about implementing some freedom in your schedule to take advantage of this transit.
May 26 - New Moon in Gemini - If you are calling in a social circle, coven, or fun this would be a great new moon to work under. Especially because Mercury rules this new moon and it is in the same sign! I’ll be doing some manifestation work on a few ideas I have going!

Any advice on developing my psychic gifts? - Amy H
Ask Aster - May 2025
Hello Amy!
I have a ton of information on this topic. While this is a service I offer, I’ll let you in on a little secret, and one of my favorite keys on the psychic path.
The truth is, pop spirituality has lied to us.
While the third-eye is involved somewhat in psychic potential and receiving extra sensory information, it is actually not the most important energetic center to consider when developing as a psychic.
I know, shocking right?
The truth is the Sacral Chakra is EVEN MORE important than the third eye in developing psychic ability!
To be transparent, a clear sushumna channel (that is, the bridge between all of your spiritual centers—see kundalini yoga) is ultimately, but when you are just starting out it is crucial to link the sacral to the third eye, otherwise your third eye is lacking a major source of power. To put it another way, does your remote work without a battery?
Do what you can to ground down into your root and feed the sacral for now. There are many published techniques but if you want someone to walk you through it, book a reading and let me know you want to use some of our time in developing your abilities.
Ciao!
Aster

Listening to: Purple Rain - Prince and The Revolution
Rain has always been a cleansing energy. Standing in the rain is said to clear your spirit body according to many Plains tribes of North America. It is said if you speak your sorrows and worries to the thunder spirits, they will help. This is the power of water.
This song has always been cleansing for me. Prince is quoted to saying this song is about standing with a loved one at the end of the world, trusting that faith will get them through. I think that energy fits the moment quite well.
Reading: The Hidden Messages in Water by Masaru Emoto
This has been on my reading list for sometime now and in preparation for this newsletter I finally read it. Honestly, it’s pretty magical. It had me thinking about things in different ways than I have before and to me that is the indicator of a good book. Speaking to my morning cup of water is a sacred practice I have been doing for a while, and it was nice to read about how his experiments fit into that.
